Celebrating India’s 68th Independence Day
“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom”. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru made this statement on the eve of August 14th 1947. Every year India celebrates its Independence Day with great patriotism and enthusiasm. All the Bridge of Hope centers organized different programs on this Independence Day.
In the state of Andhra Pradesh, the Bridge of Hope children celebrated Independence Day with flag-hoisting followed by an elaborate drill. Later they sang patriotic songs and had cultural dance programs. Some centers organized a kite flying competition for the children. At the end of these celebrations, all the children were presented with school bags.
Bridge of Hope centers in Delhi celebrated the 68th Independence Day of our nation in the presence of some political leaders. The children welcomed the guests with garlands. While hoisting the national flag all the children sang national anthem. And then, the children performed some cultural programs.
In Jharkhand, the Bridge of Hope centers celebrated Independence Day with different types of cultural programs. After the flag-hoisting ceremony and the Independence day message, the children performed dance, skits and songs.
Bridge of Hope centers in Manipur organized cultural day programs to make the children aware about the importance of Independence Day celebrations. The children recited poems, performed traditional dance and fashion show.
The Bridge of Hope centers in the state of Odisha celebrated Independence Day with flag-hoisting and cultural programs. There was an exhibition by students and at the end all the students received a packet of hygiene and school supplies.
The Bridge of Hope centers in the state of Punjab hoisted national flag on Independence Day. All the children wore cultural dresses and took part in the programs. Later they performed cultural programs.
Bridge of Hope centers in the state of Uttarakhand organized a number of programs for its children. Children were dressed up in saffron, white or green colors. After the flag-hoisting ceremony, the children sang patriotic songs and also a performed in a skit to narrate the struggles faced by the freedom fighters.
In the state of Uttar Pradesh, all the Bridge of Hope centers started the Independence Day programs with flag-hoisting. The children performed a drama which narrates the lives of freedom fighters. Apart from the cultural programs, the children were taught about the importance of education in today’s society.
