Dr. K.P. Yohannan, Metropolitan
In his book No Longer a Slumdog, Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan says, “One of the most shocking reports I ever read was published in the English daily, The Indian Express, several years ago. On the front page was a photo of a little boy, half naked, lying on the sidewalk of a busy street. Next to the boy was a stray dog. Upon closer examination, I saw that it was a female dog and the little boy was actually sucking her milk. The caption below read: This dog is his mother.
“The three-column article went on to describe the heartbreaking agony that homeless children face as they try to survive on their own. Many tears have passed since that article came out, and I wish I could say that things have got better. But I can’t because the media keeps telling me otherwise.”
Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan’s vision to help these children resulted in Bridge of Hope, which now brings hope to tens of thousands of children. His vision is to expand the project to help 500,000 children in need.
Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan has also been bringing hope and healing to families for more than 30 years through television, radio, and literature.
