Medical Aid Distribution Program

Bridge of Hope conducted a free medical aid distribution program in several project centers across India. Here are a few stories of the beneficiaries:

Budhilal

Budhilal is a class 8 student from a Bridge of Hope center in Uttar Pradesh. He is a disabled child. His parents could not afford to help him commute to school or project center. Bridge of Hope provided a tricycle to Budhilal and now he can easily go everywhere without anyone’s help. Debli

Debli is a boy from West Bengal. He is from a very poor family. Her father is a daily wage labourer. When the Bridge of Hope staff was visiting this village, they found him with severe mouth infection, boils and malnourished. He was on the verge of death. They spoke to his parents about treatement but they said could not afford any treatment for him. Bridge of Hope immediately took steps to help them in his treatment. Then they enrolled him in the nearest Bridge of Hope center. Debli is unable to walk. His mother carried him everywhere. They requested for a wheelchair government through panchayat. But they got no help. Bridge of Hope decided to provide a wheel chair to him as part of medical aid distribution program. His parents are very grateful to Bridge of Hope for the help.

Geeta Devi

Geeta Devi is a 12th class student from a Bridge of Hope center in Uttar Pradesh. She is a disabled child but was very active. It was a challenge for her to commute from one place to another. Her parents could not afford to buy a tricycle for her as they were labourers working in agricultural fields. Knowing this, Bridge of Hope decided to help her with a tricycle. Lalit

Lalit is a student of a Bridge of Hope center in Uttar Pradesh. His father works as a labourer in a different city. Her mother works in agriculture fields to take care of their 4 children. Lalit is physically disabled and cannot walk. The family was very discouraged as he found it challenging to move around. Bridge of Hope helped him with a wheel chair. Bridge of Hope helped him with a tricycle. His parents express their gratefulness to Bridge of Hope for meeting the need of their child when they could not afford to buy a wheel chair for himLalit

Neha

Neha is a child from a Bridge of Hope center in Uttar Pradesh. She was affected by Polio when she was little because of which she is not able to walk properly. Bridge of Hope helped her with a tricycle. Now she is able to come to project center without any difficultyNeha

Rakesh

Rakesh is a student of a Bridge of Hope in Uttar Pradesh. He is physically handicapped and was facing challenges to move around. He used to take help from friends and rickshaw pullers to get to project center. Bridge of Hope decided to help him with a tricycle as his parents cannot afford to buy one. Now he and his family are happy that he can move around without anyone’s helpRakesh

Riya

Riya is a 7th class student from a Bridge of Hope center in Uttar Pradesh. She is handicapped since birth. As she was unable to walk, her mother used to carry her everywhere. As she started growing up, her mother found it very difficult to carry her to school. Knowing her plight, Bridge of Hope helped her with a wheel chair.medical-aid-2014-up-3

Riya says “I thank Bridge of Hope for such a nice present. Now my mother will not have to face any problem to bring me to the project center and I need not take leave in rainy season.”

Anjli

Anjli is a nine-year-old girl from a Bridge of Hope center in Punjab. She is studying in Class 5. She has misaligned eyes and could not see straight because of which her eye sight was getting bad. She was finding it difficult to concentrate on her studies as she could not look into the books for more than half an hour at a time. Doctors checked her eyes and advised a surgery. But since the financial condition of her family was bad, they could not afford to go for the surgery. Bridge of Hope decided to helped this girl with the expenses for the surgery

She underwent a successful surgery and now she can see straight. She is now able to concentrate on her studies without any problem. Her family is very happy that Bridge of Hope has arranged for her surgery.anjli

Several such medical aid distribution programs and medical camps are held at various Bridge of Hope centers throughout the year to ensure the physical well-being of the children.

Bridge of Hope attempts to provide holistic development for children. You can make a difference in a child’s life by sponsoring a child.
